About The Fish Project

The cozy yet lively atmosphere invites patrons into a setting where the aroma of fresh seafood fills the air, hinting at the offerings that lie ahead. Dining here reveals a commitment to classic fish and chips, with batter maintaining a satisfying crunch without overpowering the delicate fish inside. While the menu at The Fish Project leans heavily on this traditional approach, the inclusion of various sides and sauces offers some welcome variety. Plates arrive promptly, an indicator of efficient kitchen operation, though the layout of the seating can feel a bit cramped during busier hours, making the experience slightly less relaxed than some might hope.

Photos shared by visitors often highlight the generous portions and golden hues of the battered fish, illustrating the restaurant's ability to capture both quality and presentation. Reviews found across travel and food platforms underscore a consistent appreciation for the freshness of the catch and the straightforward nature of the dishes, though a handful note that the spicing can sometimes be uneven, tipping towards mild. The Fish Project restaurant balances accessibility with a sense of local character. The staff remain attentive, albeit occasionally stretched thin, which can influence the pacing of service during peak times. Pricing sits comfortably in the mid-range, reflecting the freshness and portion size while being mindful of value.

Beyond the dining experience itself, The Fish Project acts as a modest reflection of the surrounding area's maritime heritage. The straightforward approach avoids overcomplication but might leave those seeking innovative seafood preparations wanting more. However, the familiarity found in each bite of their signature fish and chips creates a reassuring comfort. For those researching The Fish Project + menu details or aiming to get an authentic glimpse through candid reviews, the overall consensus suggests a dependable eatery that honors its niche without pretense. Small imperfections in service or seasoning do little to diminish the pleasure of a well-executed classic.

We ordered the mixed plate. Fish and shrimp were great fried along with fries. Especially the fish tasted great. I’m curious about their fish burger.

Situated inside Elsinore food hall a few minute walk from the castle. The food was good. The fry job was on point and batter was light and crispy. The fish was flaky and tender. We ordered fish and chips, fish sandwich, and mix plate. Everything came out piping hot and tasted fresh. The seasoning was very light, so the sauce was essential.

The fish is fried upon order and is very crispy and u can see the layers of fish when u start biting into it.. The thick cut fries in my opinion was a little thick. Each serving only comes with a small tub of tar tar sauce and no ketchup available. When I asked for a knife, they said there is only fork available..

OMG!! 5 stars is not enough!! We had a fish burger and it was THE BEST meal we had during our trip to Denmark (and Sweden). We enjoyed the meal so much so we came back the next day again. Food is SO FRESH, DELICIOUS and service VERY KIND. Next time in Helsingør, we'll definitely come back to Fish Project.

After visiting Kronborg, we decided to head to Helsingør Street Food Market, also known as Værftets Madmarked, for lunch. The market resembles a large food court located inside a spacious warehouse, offering a variety of food vendors to choose from. After exploring the options, we were drawn to The Fish Project, thanks to their enticing sample menu displayed at the counter. We opted for the fish burger, the shrimp box, and, of course, the classic fish and chips. Each dish cost between 125 and 129 DKK. The food was freshly prepared and exceeded our expectations. The portions were generous, delicious, and accompanied by ample fries and sauce. The fish burger, in particular, was one of the best I’ve ever had. The staff, attentive and considerate, mentioned that the sauce might be slightly spicy. However, to our Asian palates, it wasn’t spicy at all—a thoughtful gesture nonetheless. The shrimp box and fish and chips were equally impressive. Served in a paper box lined with newspaper, the fish was perfectly cooked, and the shrimp batter was crispy on the outside while the shrimp inside remained tender and juicy. If you find yourself in Helsingør, this spot is a must-visit for the freshest fish and tastiest chips. While it’s not the cheapest option, it’s worth it for the quality, especially considering that food prices in Copenhagen tend to be on the higher side.
